According to Webster’s Dictionary, viniculture is “the cultivation or culture of grapes, especially for wine making.” When Jesus told his audience that he was the vine and they were the branches, they had a clue about the meaning of his message. Grapes were an important crop in Israel and most people had knowledge of all that was involved in growing grapes.
