Fall 2021 Disaster Relief

Fall 2021 Disaster Relief

Friends,

We are only mid-way through September and already the major storms keep coming to wreak havoc in the lives of people in their path. As United Methodists, we have always depended upon UMCOR to be on the frontline of our disaster response. Because UMCOR is designed to assist LOCAL disaster response efforts, our representatives tend to be the first ones in and the last ones out of a disaster zone.

With the current string of strong storms that we have seen so far this year, UMCOR needs our help. Mike Sluder, our Holston Conference Director of Connectional Ministries sent out this this afternoon.

Of the options that Mike offers, I suggest that we make UMCOR hygiene kits. Here are the instructions for making the kits – including a YouTube video showing how to assemble the kit. Don’t worry about the funds for shipping from the instructions. The Holston Conference is picking up the tab. You can also contribute to the Mission fund marking your gift for “2021 Fall UMCOR request” if you wish.

When United Methodists come together to help out, good things happen. When we respond to our neighbors in need, we are living out the Gospel. If you can help with assembling some kits, please bring them to the church by Sunday, October 24. We will take care of getting them where they need to go.

Thank you for being a blessing,
Pastor Wayne
