Update: April 29, 2021

Greetings!

After more than a year, we are beginning to see some signs of a return to some form of normal. As more people receive the vaccination against COVID-19 and the restrictions begin to be relaxed, we can begin to expect that our operations will begin to change going forward. There are some things that will not change, and will be enhanced, as restrictions are relaxed. For example, we are reaching new people (and shut-ins) through our video recordings of worship available at our website (https://mcfarlandumc.org/sermons/) or by calling our Sermon By Phone service at 706-866-6577 (a local Rossville call).

We just received word the other day that our Conference restrictions are being relaxed as of May 1. I will be passing this information along to the re-opening team for guidance on how we will implement these changes here at McFarland. Once the team meets in the next week or so, we will pass that information along via the website, on Facebook, and through email.

One way that we are beginning to return to normal is that we are once again collecting our Annual Conference Hands on Mission Offering, something that we did not do in 2020. Once again, the offering is cleaning buckets for the Ishe Anesu mission in Zimbabwe. In 2019, I challenged McFarland to collect 36 buckets. We were able to meet that challenge through purchasing in bulk. We plan to do the same this year. I invite you to sponsor buckets at $20 each. To start off, Charlene and I are sponsoring 2 buckets and we invite each of you to sponsor buckets as you can. To sponsor a bucket, you can:

  • Write a check for $20 per bucket and include it in your offering on Sunday morning using your offering envelope. Please note in the memo field Zimbabwe
  • Write a check for $20 per bucket and mail it to
    P.O. Box 156
    Rossville, GA 30742
Please note in the memo field: Zimbabwe
  • You can also give online via credit card or debit card by clicking this link and filling in the requested information. This link requires that you give using a credit card or debit card.

I want to thank you for continuing to be the church during this craziness. We have been able to continue most of our ministries with modifications. As restrictions are lifted, more of our ministries will continue. Thank you for your prayers and your support.
