Important Information about McFarland’s Response to COVID-19
Out of an abundance of caution and at the request of Bishop Mary Virginia Taylor (which can be read here), all worship services and Sunday activities at McFarland UMC are cancelled for March 15 and 22. The Wednesday morning book study is cancelled until Wednesday, April 1 and there will be no choir rehearsals until April 1. A decision about the Wednesday evening Simple Supper & Bible Study and modifications to the Free Store (or cancellation) will be made in the near future. In addition, I am urging the Prime Timers to cancel their meeting for Tuesday, March 17. Please help us get the word out to our congregation and friends.
We will worship online (with no congregation) through Facebook Live or by some video means that will be accessible to everyone with internet access. More information will be forthcoming as we work out the details.
The church office will be open during regular scheduled hours so that you may keep us informed of any prayer or pastoral care needs during this time. Information on giving during this cancellation can be found here.
We are in uncertain times. These measures, as described in the Bishop’s letter, are designed to help slow the possible spread of COVID-19 and give our medical facilities a chance to catch up. We are taking these precautions not out of fear, but out of concern for our neighbors.
We will continue to communicate with you via all the means that we have available to us. Please keep the church and community in your prayers. In the meantime, be safe, wash your hands, and stay home if you are ill.
In Christ,
Pastor Wayne
